👩🏫🍎 Meet our staff! Hello from Mrs. Eberhart-Renfrow.

Last Tuesday’s dress up day for homecoming was Denim/Blue Day!

Last Monday, we kicked off Jefferson High School’s Homecoming week with Neon Day!

Discovery’s Student Council members are learning what it means to be leaders and make a difference in their school! They share ideas, encourage school spirit, and find ways to make our school an even better place for everyone. We are proud of them for stepping up, using their voices, and being positive role models for their fellow students!

👩🏫🍎 Meet our staff. Please welcome, Mrs. Aerts!

🌤️ 🎈 🌎 Up, up, and away! Classroom K01 created one-of-a-kind hot air balloons inspired by the book “The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be” by Joanna Gaines. Their colorful creations will be displayed in the hallway outside their classroom, serving as a reminder that - just like their unique hot air balloons - each of them is special, one of a kind, and has something wonderful to share with the world!

☀️💡🔌 Classroom 404 is learning how to create an electrical system using solar power; wires; motor and fan; light bulb; and buzzer. We might have some future electrical engineers!
👩🏫🍎 Meet our staff. Hello from Mrs. Baker!

🌱 Classroom 201 got a closer look at plant roots, stems, and leaves! They explored how each part of a plant has an important job. This hands-on learning helps connect what students see to what they’ve been learning in science.
👩🏫🍎 Meet our staff. Hello from Mrs. Wolthuizen!

1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ Classroom K04 is having fun building their math skills! They’ve been practicing sorting and organizing numbers, while working with different activities and hands-on materials.

If your student(s) has a change in afterschool plans during the school day, please notify the office and we’ll get the message to your student(s). Teachers are actively teaching and may not be able to check their email throughout the day.
Since the office is the main point of contact, it’s important that we know how students are getting home. We want to ensure the safety of all students and make sure dismissal plans are communicated accurately. You can email Jennifer.Hogan@k12.sd.us and/or Jasmine.Iddings@k12.sd.us; or call the office at 605-362-3530.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our students safe!

Last Friday, third grade classrooms participated in the Sioux Falls Fire Rescue Children’s Fire Safety House. The house is a mobile educational simulator used to teach students how to prevent, prepare for, and survive home fires. The house simulates a low-visibility, smoke-filled bedroom using safe theatrical smoke. Students hear an actual smoke alarm sound, locate the door, test it for heat, and practice identifying two ways out of a room (including doors and windows).

Jefferson High School's Homecoming is next week October 5 - 9. They are having dress-up days, and Discovery is participating. Please see the attachment below for a fun-filled week!

🍎 These two kindergarten friends are making sure their classmates lunchboxes get back to class. Thank you for taking care of others!

👩🏫🍎 Meet our staff. Hello from Mrs. Even!

In Art class, classroom K05 explored creativity and imagination with fun space-themed artwork! Students used paint, colorful shapes, and textures to create their own unique outer-space scenes, complete with pictures of themselves as astronauts. Each piece is full of color, personality, and imagination. Excellent work, K05!

Classroom 206 has a star jar. The class earns stars by following directions, doing their work, and being kind to others. The class has been working really hard to earn enough stars for a reward. Last week, they met their goal so they got to have a pajama and stuffed animal day! Great job, 206!
