Here are a few reminders about PTO’s Fall Dance that is Friday, October 30, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
- All students MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the dance.
- Students can wear kid-friendly costumes.
- New this year is a photo backdrop, and it will be near the restrooms. Please help us protect it and keep it looking great by keeping hands off. We want to enjoy it year after year.
- There will be games, candy, and of course dancing!

If you take photos, please share them with Jennifer.Hogan@k12.sd.us. The photos may be used in our yearbook and/or on our Facebook page.

Thank you again to those who volunteered; your time and effort make these events possible. We look forward to seeing you!

Classroom 101 recently had some special visitors! A classmate’s grandparents visited the classroom to read a story and lead a spooky science experiment. Using water, baking soda, and a little vinegar, students created dancing lima bean “ghosts” in a jar! It was a fun way to bring a little magic into the classroom.

Kindergarten students enjoyed a fun and interactive fire safety presentation featuring puppets! Students learned important fire safety tips such as what to do if they find matches or lighters, how to crawl low under smoke, and the Stop-Drop-and Roll method.

One student got to try on a fireman’s pants and jacket – and couldn’t resist showing off his dance moves! Check out Lucas at https://youtube.com/shorts/5BxVyeU3zWw?feature=share.

We are seeing a lot of students WITHOUT coats, along with some students still WEARING SHORTS. At 10:30 am today, the temperature with wind chill was 31 degrees and the following grade levels had a morning recess: kindergarten, 1st, 4th, and 5th.

Besides a coat, it would be a good idea for students to have a hat or hood - and even gloves. The playground does not have any coverage from the wind. When checking the weather, please consider the windchill as well. Below are the guidelines that we follow.
- 1 - 49 Degrees: coats and pants (no shorts)
- 50 - 59 Degrees: sweatshirt or jacket
- 60 and Above: student choice

Students may have to layer clothing on days when it’s chilly in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. We appreciate your help with this.
