Kindergarteners took their first field trip of the year and toured the fire station. They learned about firefighters’ gear, tools, and truck, and even got to sit in the fire engine!
Students also learned about fire safety - with their homework being to learn their address, and ask if smoke detectors work at home!
Kindergarteners work hard on their skills at Independent Reading Stations!
They start the year by learning one letter a day.
5th graders are exploring the essential question: How do books relate to all different kinds of people?
They are focusing on text to self, and text to world connections through culinary arts (preparation and recipes given in the book from different world cultures).

In Science, 5th grade students demonstrate how far apart the stars in the constellation, Pegasus, are positioned in space. (They used centimeters, rather than light years.)
They are investigating the focus question: “Where are the stars in space, and how far from Earth are they?”

In drama, 5th graders participated in a team building lesson inspired by the book, "The Color Collector”. The goal was to learn about theme (the central topic or message) in stories and plays.

Back in the fall of 2007, Helen and Johnathan were new kindergarteners at EFA+.
Now they are seniors at Washington University in St. Louis and will graduate in the spring of 2024.

Students in 301 used their People Smart, Nature Smart, and Math Smart skills to figure out groups. This activity helps prepare the 3rd graders for multiplication.
K01 students found inspiration through poetry and fun with "magic" play dough.
