Volunteers needed! PTO still needs quite a few volunteers to help at the upcoming Fall Dance on Friday, October 24.
→ If there are not enough volunteers, there will be fewer games and/or the event will be cancelled. ←
There are 30 minute time slots available and the “jobs” are very easy: set-up, concessions, running a game, and clean-up. If you can help, please signup at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44ADAD2CA3FF2-52359975-2024#/.

Tomorrow, September 30, join us for "Discovery Dine Out" at Ranch & Roost. Fifteen percent of all sales (dine in or carry out) goes back to the Discovery PTO. There is also BINGO starting at 7:00 pm! Bingo cards are $1.00 and there will be kid-friendly prizes.

Last Thursday was “Rainbow Blast” day! Students and staff wore as many crazy colors as they could.

Wednesday was “Safari” day! Students and staff wore animal prints or dressed like a safari guide.

The safety of our students is our number one priority. It requires everyone’s cooperation and patience. Please slow down and stay alert for children walking, biking, and crossing the street. The school zone speed limit is 15 mph. We have had several reports of vehicles driving in excess of the 15 mph speed limit - this puts everyone at risk. Do your part and slow down. We would rather students arrive late and safe - versus putting you, your student(s), and others at risk. We appreciate your help with this; thank you!

Tuesday was “Chill Dill” dress-up day for Homecoming week! Students and staff wore their best pickle green and sunglasses.

Yesterday was Oreo dress-up day for Homecoming week! Students and staff wore black and white.

There is a free one-day dental clinic for children through the age of 18 coming up on October 4.

Shout out to this great team of ladies who keep track of students getting on the school buses after school!

Today is "Chalk the Walk" in support of 988 and bringing awareness to mental health. Fifth grade student council members participated by writing uplifting messages near the entrance to Discovery!

Do you need care in October on our no school days?

During science, classrooms 404 and 405 learned about solar energy and how it can be turned into electricity. Students learned how sunlight powers solar panels and then got to see it in action by using solar power to run small fans.

In honor of the anniversary of 9/11, classrooms 205 and 206 learned about heroes - firefighters, police officers, doctors, and everyday people - who came together to support one another. Students wrote what a hero is to them and who their heroes are.

In PE today, classrooms 201 and 206 were working hard learning about soccer. We might have some future star soccer players!

Jefferson High School's Homecoming is September 22 – 25. They are having dress-up days, and Discovery is participating! Check out the flyer below for a fun-filled week!
