Parent volunteers that are helping with Thursday’s holiday classroom parties! If your student normally rides the school bus or goes to daycare after school - and he/she will be going home with you - please let us know. This is very helpful at dismissal! Please email Jennifer.Hogan@k12.sd.us or Jasmine.Iddings@k12.sd.us – or feel free to call the office. Also, as a reminder, all visitors are required to check in at the office with a government issued ID.

On January 12 and 13, 2024, Jefferson High School will host its 3rd Annual Cavalier Classic Show Choir and Jazz Competition and Fundraiser. This competition is the choir department's largest fundraiser and event of the year! We want to invite future Cavs and their families to join us! Over the past two years our choir program has flourished, and we want to celebrate that with you. We have 29 show choirs competing and we are excited to add a new Unified Division to our show choir competition for students of all abilities!
The Cavalier Classic will host nearly 1,800 students and over 3,500 attendees from SD, MN, and IA throughout the 2-day event. Over 2,000 volunteer hours are given by our students and families to make this event happen. There are many wonderful opportunities for younger Cavs to join us in the future!
We invite you to attend this event and see the extremely talented show choirs in action! There are also opportunities to help with supplies and/or volunteer. Our success depends on the generosity of family, friends, businesses, and community members coming together to promote and encourage choral education among our youth.
Information on dates, times, locations, donations, volunteer opportunities, etc., can be found at https://www.jeffersonchoirs.com/cavalier-classic.html.
Thank you for being a part of our JHS family and we hope to see you on January 12 and/or 13!

In case you missed it, we are getting in the holiday spirit with dress up days this week for all students and staff! Let’s have a holly jolly week!

On Tuesday, Sioux Falls Stampede players visited grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The players introduced themselves, read a book, and answered students’ questions. They also talked about how they have utilized The Explorer Way, while playing hockey. Lastly, they autographed three new books about hockey for our library. Thank you, Stampede!
The Explorer Way: Take care of yourself. Take care of others. Take care of this place.

A huge shoutout and thank you to our PTO! They provided hot chocolate and apple cider for staff today. What a great way to start the day!

Today is a beautiful December day, but we know it can't last forever in South Dakota! Make sure you and your student(s) know how to access Canvas for remote learning when weather that keeps kids home can be predicted in advance.

Just a random sign with a wonderful message. . . hanging in the best spot - right above the mirrors. #believeinyourself #selflove

Classroom 506 tested various edible liquids to see if they had sediments after mixed with water, and then they tasted them. The different substances were sugar, pepper, cumin, and citric acid. They discovered what ingredients would be good for a salad dressing and those that would not. What a fun science experiment!
